DVT - Venous thrombolysis / thrombectomy

PREOP

• All patients will be seen in clinic
• Need labs: CBC, Chem comp, INR
• Need duplex venous ultrasound (if not previously available)​
• Measure diameter of the extremities for follow up (at site of greatest swelling and the site of the opposite extremity at the identical level)Take a picture of both extremities

ANTICOAGULATION/ANTIPLATELETS

• Do not stop anticoagulation.

PRESCRIPTIONS (give to patient in prep consult)

• Norco 5/325mg take one tablet po q4h prn pain
• Colace 250mg po daily – for at least 3 days. Continue while taking narcotics

LOCATION OF THE PROCEDURE

• Cath lab

PREOPERATIVE ORDERS

• IV with NS (Normal Saline) 75ml/hr

FOLLOW UP

• Phone call (1-2 days)
• 1-2 wks Clinic visit with baseline duplex venous ultrasound
• In general patients will be referred to coumadin clinic
• 1 and 3 mo
