Ureteral Stent Change “from below” (transurethral change of ureteral stent)

PREOP EVALUATION

  • No Clinic Visit
  • For LOWER urinary tract obstruction:  Prostate cancer (men) or Cervical cancer (women)
  • If not sure, discuss with IR

TIMING / BED REST AFTER PROCEDURE

  • 1 hour

ANTICOAGULATION/ANTIPLATELETS

  • Aspirin, Plavix, and anti-coagulant medications:  Do not stop

LOCATION OF THE PROCEDURE

  • Cath lab

PREOPERATIVE ORDERS

  • IV with NS (Normal Saline) 75ml/hr

FOLLOW UP

  • Call 1-2 days after procedure
  • Schedule for next tube change in 3-4 months
