UFE / Fibroid Embolization
PREOP
- All patients will be seen in clinic
- Need preoperative MRI of the pelvis with IV contrast
- IR physician with discuss case with GYN to rule out cancer
SCHEDULING
- Will need preop authorization from insurance
- Patients will stay overnight
- Some patients will need letter to excuse them from work for at least 1 week
OCATION OF THE PROCEDURE
PRESCRIPTIONS
- Percocet 5/325mg take one tablet po q4h prn pain
- Ibuprofen 600mg – take one tablet po q8h. Start in the morning of the procedure and take for at least 3 days post op
- Scopolamine patch – apply to the back of the ear the night before the procedure. Change as directed.
- Colace 250mg po daily – for at least 3 days. Continue while taking narcotics
- Zofran sublingual 4mg po q8h prn for nauseA
FOLLOW UP
- Phone call (1-2 days)
- 1-2 wks Clinic visit: to follow up symptoms
- 6mo Clinic visit with MRI of the pelvis with IV contrast (gadolinium)
