TIPS
PREOP:
- Needs to be done with general anesthesia
- Preference to room 2-3
- In patients with acute bleeding, will need to make sure to have blood in standby
- Frequently will need platelets or FFP
ESTIMATED TIME: 1-3hrs
Equipment Always Necessary:
- Micropuncture
- Haskal tips set (Includes the catheters and the wires and also includes the sheath.)
- Viattor Stent Grafts (size to be determined at the time of the procedure)
If Paracentesis done at the same time:
- US with the P4 probe prepped (in this case both probes will be prepped)
- Safe-T-centesis cahteter
- 4-6 Vacuum bottles
PREP:
- POSITION: Supine
- Right IJ is the preferred site
- Need US and probe cover for both probes
- DRAPE: Thyroid drape - neck
- Chest-Breast drape - abdomen
- Position screens in a place that can be seen
- Injector should be loaded - 100ml
- Set up pressure measurements
Stand by Equipment
- 65cm KMP catheter
- 6,8,10mm x 4cm Dorado balloons (80cm shaft)
Dressing:
- No dressing. Dermabond only.
PEARLS:
- Frequently paracentesis is performed at the same time.
