PREOP:
- Check coags
- Neuro exam
- Room 5 - biplane
- Will give heparin as soon as access obtained unless contraindicated
Equipment Always Necessary
- 19G needle
- J-wire
- 6Fr Pigtail
- Vertebral angle catheter (5Fr-100cm)
- Wire: Glidewire
PREP:
- POSITION: Supine
- Head holder - tape the head and instruct the patient to be still.
- DRAPE: standard
- LOAD THE INJECTOR - 100cc
- Make sure Spin working before prepping the patient
- Bring both AP and lateral in position before starting
- Make sure the Leonardo is turned on !!!
Stand by Equipment
- 6Fr Sim 2 catheter
- IM catheter
Dressing:
- No dressing, just Dermabond.
PEARLS:
- Make sure machine is able to move to locations necessary to obtain the image.
- The complete study is a 4-vessel cerebral angiogram which includes bilateral carotids and bilateral verts. If injection in one vert opacifie the contralateral PICA it is considered a complete study.
- A 6-vessel cerebral angiogram includes the external carotid.
