CO2 Prep
Currently, Co2 must be brought from the OR storage area. Use the single tank only. NEVER take the double tank. This is perfusions backup.
You will need:
- 1-2 K50’s
- 2- m12” extensions
- 2- stopcocks
- 1- 20cc syringe
- 1- 60cc syringe
- 1- ReoPro filter
- 1- Oxygen extension
Take the yellow tubing and filter off the Co2 flow meter. This filter will not survive the purging procedure.
Attach the oxygen extension to the Co2 flow meter firmly. Attach the ReoPro filter to the other end of the oxygen tubing. The Appropriate end of the K50 is passed of the sterile field and attached to the filter. Assemble the 12” extensions and stopcocks and syringes as shown.
Turn on the main Co2 valve and set the flow at 1 l/min. The system can now be purged. Fill and empty the syringes 3 times each pushing the Co2 out the far end of the setup.
The syringes can now be filled and passed off to the physician as needed. Either as a 4 injection system with both syringes, or as a single injection with just the 20cc syringe.
DO NOT LEAVE ATTACHED TO THE TANK AND ATTACH TO THE CATHETER!!! THE SYRINGES MUST BE DETACHED FROM THE TANK WHILE ATTACHED TO THE PATIENT FOR SAFETY.
